If you enjoy doing obedience and playing with your dog but competing in obedience seems daunting and strict, consider participating in AKC Rally. AKC Rally is similar to obedience with a dash of agility. You and your dog complete obstacles. Like obedience, your dog should be able to heel nicely and follow you through patterns. There are maneuvers such as spinning, weaving, sit, and down. Unlike obedience, you’re allowed to communicate with your dog. Treats are still not permitted, though, so you still need to have your dog’s focus without bait. To begin in Rally, just start working on obedience!
